Okay so..

Every time I try and post at the Beta for the reunion, I get this message:

Hey All!!

Wow, has it been forever and then some since I have updated. I apologize. I've had a lot going on personally and I've really been shutting off emotionally to deal.

To sum up:

*Had a skin cancer scare. It's ok...they removed it. But no more tanning for me. Ya'll can call me Casper.

* Joe's sister passed away. She was 27. Loooong story, but very difficult nonetheless.

* Graduated with my MAT and am in the "now what?" phase. 16 applications and only 1 call for an interview thus far (which is Thursday June 15 if anyone wants to send good vibes.)

* Other family issues that would take far too long to explain and I really don't want to bore everyone. If you are interested, call me or send me e at teff46@hotmail.com

* Finally got a myspace account. BUT as a lot of employers around here use it to screen applicants, I have the most boring-ass, vanilla myspace right now. Feel free to add me though! lol Find me by my user name Teffy or my email teff46@hotmail.com

* Ryder is walking and talking! His first word was dog, but he now says about 25 words (he added "chair" to his vocabulary yesterday). The doc says he's really verbal for a 13-month-old boy.

* Joe hates his job with a passion (security). Just got promoted, so yay for money, but boo for having to stay there. Unfortunately, we need the money right now. He's applying to go into a part-time teacher certification program, so hopefully that will be something positive for him career-wise. Also, a good friend of ours has been running a production company in LA and hates it there. He's thinking of moving back to Portland and starting it up here. If that happens, he wants to team up with Joe. And that makes Joe very happy. (thus, me too)

* Still teaching dance and love it. Still teaching children's theater and loving it. A friend of ours (elementary music teacher/professional musician) has been toying with the idea of starting a children's theater company. If she does, she wants Joe and I to join her. That would be cool.

*** I'm slowly getting out of my funk. Promise. Now I just need to ace that job interview. We need to get out of here and the only way we can do it is if I can get a job!!!!

Grad School Interview

Tonight was my interview for my 2nd choice grad school. Essentially, it was a series of discussion questions for the group of us that attended (tonight had 7 prospective students...but they have a lot of these for the next few weeks). We were observed by various members of the faculty. Not even sure what the criteria was...

I can definitely say I either made a great impression or a rotten one. Nothing in between on this one. I was essentially the group leader from start to finish. No one stepped up, so I did. I'm afraid this made me come off as the uber boss. *shrug* I am definitely outgoing and independent...so they can't say I lack in those areas. It just depends on whether they thought I was too domineering. I don't feel that I was...but then again I think being assertive and direct are good qualities.

We'll see how they feel...

This year was a whirlwind Christmas. I only got the 24th and 25th off from work....So Joe and I hopped in the car after I got off work at 6pm on the 23rd and drove all night up to Portland. We got in around 1am, slept for a little while and then went to see his brothers and sisters a little later. It broke my heart to see the kids and I think it was hard on Joe too. Their living room is filled with all of his father's belongings-all in boxes and such. It broke my heart even more to hear that his stepmother doesn't get paid until Friday and the insurance money hasn't come it yet so she couldn't afford to get the kids presents until after Christmas.

After that we drove to my father's house and got the news dropped on us that my stepsister is pregnant. And not just a little pregnant. She just told my parents right before she came home for the holidays because she is due in FEBRUARY. Yup. She's 7 months along and we might have noticed that. She was thinking about adoption because she isn't stable, her boyfriend is a loser (my father is in the middle of a lawsuit with him for stealing his car....) and she can't provide for it...but now she is thinking about keeping it. THe whole thing is just messed up.

THEN we had Christmas morning at my mother's house and she spent most of that time making us feel guilty for not being able to stay for Christmas dinner. She would say things like "If I start crying you'll have to forgive me. This is just the first Christmas dinner in your lifetime that we haven't had together." Nich huh? So THEN we drove over to see Joe's mother and stepfather for a little while before the long drive home. Joe's sister from Minnesota came and made the announcement that she's getting married and expecting a baby!

Whew!...and then we had to pack into the car and drive 5 hours home and have our own Christmas.

Talk about crazy!

Everyone tried to steal Gromit-they loved him!

The trip home was such a rollercoaster of emotions for us...*sigh* AND we're trying to sell our car. I just can't bear the thought of driving around in the same make/model/year/color car that Joe's father was in for the accident...but of course finding a new one isn't proving easy either given the finances....It just sucks that every time I get in the car it's a reminder...and not a good one.

Like I said...rollercoaster...

This is sooooo freakin cool.

I have an audition for another independent film tomorrow. HOW EFFIN COOL IS THAT??? I haven't done filmwork since Sept, so this is GREAT!!!!!!! I'm still acting with the improv troupe, and getting paid for it, which is cool, but another film on my resume is what I really want.

In other cool news, the director of the improv group is gonna give me a raise AND has asked me to teach a workshop with the other actors on improv. COOL HUH??? I'm one of the youngest there too! WOO!

BUt again, HELL YEAH to the audition. I could fall on my ass, but lets hope not!!! I usually do well with cold readings...
